Prado — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 24% increase in power delivery
- 5% increase in torque output
- Improved boost control response
- Enhanced fuel system efficiency
- Optimized diesel combustion characteristics
The 2009 Prado 1KD was delivered with boost control, wastegate solenoids, a high-pressure fuel pump, upgraded injectors, and drive-by-wire tuning to support a proper Stage 2 factory ECU calibration. The hardware allows us to safely push fuelling and timing maps well beyond stock thresholds without leaving the engine hunting for fuel or fighting inconsistent boost delivery.
Results came back at 337 kW at the wheels, up from 270 kW, with torque climbing from 237 Nm to 249 Nm. The build is aimed squarely at off-road and closed-circuit competition use where the extra power window suits sustained high-load running. Fuel and ignition tables were recalibrated to match the injector flow and pump capacity, and the drive-by-wire response was sharpened to eliminate lag on throttle tip-in.
Why is the torque gain modest compared to the power increase?
The 1KD's factory torque curve is already fairly flat. The larger gain is in the top end where the upgraded fuel system and boost control allow the engine to hold power longer, reflected in the 67 kW jump at the wheels.
Is this calibration safe for street use?
This Stage 2 file is intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition. The supporting modifications and power output exceed factory tolerances and typical street driving conditions.
What ECU platform did you tune?
This was calibrated on the factory ECU. The 1KD platform responds well to recalibration once the fuel and boost hardware is properly upgraded.
