Evo 8 — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- Peak boost achieved by 4500rpm
- 137% power increase to 158kW
- 103% torque increase to 267Nm
- Improved boost control response
- Enhanced fuel system management
- Optimized engine control parameters
This 2003 Evo 8 came through as a full Stage 3 build with E85 fuelling and a solid hardware package. The 4G63 runs Kelford 272 cams and a much larger turbocharger, backed by high-pressure fuel pump, upgraded injectors, and boost control hardware including wastegate and solenoid setup. The car is intended for closed-circuit competition use.
The Haltech calibration is built around E85's wider safety margin and cooling benefit, letting the engine sit comfortably under sustained load. Recorded figures came back at 158 kW at the wheels and 267 Nm. The file balances mid-range driveability with top-end without chasing peak numbers—useful when you're managing heat and reliability over a session.
Why E85 on this build?
E85 offers knock resistance and charge cooling, making it well-suited to larger turbos and higher cylinder pressures on the 4G63. It gives the calibrator more margin to work with, particularly on track where intake temps climb.
What's the advantage of the Haltech platform here?
Haltech gives full control over fuel, ignition, and boost strategy. On a full build like this with upgraded cams and turbo, having that level of granularity in the tune is essential for reliability and consistent power delivery.
Is 158 kW low for a Stage 3 Evo?
Power figures are measured at the wheels and depend heavily on dyno type and conditions. This file prioritises a safe, repeatable tune for circuit use rather than chasing peak numbers on the rollers.
