Mk7.5 Golf R on a G25-550 — 288 kW & 452 Nm on 98 RON

The Mk7.5 Golf R is one of the best big-turbo platforms going — the EA888 takes a frame upgrade well, and the all-wheel-drive chassis puts the power down. This build runs an Antz Performance G25-550 with an optimised CHRA chosen specifically for spool: it makes 2 bar of boost by 3000 rpm and 2.6 bar by 3500 rpm, so the larger turbo never feels laggy through the mid-range.

Supporting the airflow is a front-mount intercooler with upgraded piping, a downpipe and a cold air intake; fuelling is handled by Bosch 980cc injectors and a Walbro 525 pump, giving the calibration the headroom to run the boost cleanly at the top. The custom ECU tune on 98 RON returned 288 kW and 452 Nm at the wheels, with a flat torque plateau from the mid-range to redline once the G25 is lit.

This is a high-output, hardware-led build supplied for off-road and closed-circuit competition use. Fuel quality matters — the file is written for 98 RON and assumes consistent octane under sustained load.

Common questions
What turbocharger is on this Golf R?

An Antz Performance G25-550 with an optimised CHRA chosen for spool. It builds 2 bar of boost by 3000 rpm and 2.6 bar by 3500 rpm, so the larger frame turbo still responds strongly through the mid-range.

What power did it make and on what fuel?

288 kW and 452 Nm at the wheels on 98 RON pump fuel, from the custom ECU calibration. Running lower octane than the tune was written for risks knock and damage — always confirm the fuel a file expects with your tuner.

What supporting modifications were fitted?

A front-mount intercooler and upgraded piping, downpipe, cold air intake, Bosch 980cc injectors and a Walbro 525 fuel pump. The bigger injectors and pump give the calibration the fuel headroom to run the G25-550's boost safely at the top end.

Is this a street tune?

No — it is a high-output competition build supplied for off-road and closed-circuit use only.
