S14 SR20 on E85 and Haltech Elite — 330 kW at 1.72 bar

This S14 came in as a full rebuild exercise, starting from 113 kW at the wheels. The owner wanted serious off-road and circuit capability on E85, so the package was built around a modern turbo, aggressive cams, and standalone Haltech Elite management.

The Kelford non-VCT cam spec sits at 264/272, which pushes the breathing hard enough to support 1.72 bar of boost through the new turbo and manifold. Fuel system was upgraded to match, and boost control was handled via solenoids. The result was 330 kW at the wheels — a 217 kW gain — though torque only lifted modestly to 218 Nm, typical of a high-strung SR on this kind of build.

The Haltech file manages ignition timing and fuelling across the E85 blend, with closed-loop control keeping it safe in varying ethanol content. It's a proper track-focused setup.

Common questions
Why is the torque figure so low compared to the power?

The SR20 with aggressive cams and high boost makes power up top, not down low. The 218 Nm figure reflects the engine's character — it's built to rev and generate kilowatts through the upper range, not pull hard off idle.

What ECU platform was used for this tune?

This file is for Haltech Elite standalone engine management. The Elite handles all fuelling, ignition, and boost control for the turbo setup.

Is this suitable for street use?

This is a full competition build intended for off-road and closed-circuit use. At 1.72 bar and 330 kW, it requires E85 and careful management of fuel quality.
