Haltech E85 conversion for a full-build SR20 180SX

A 1994 180SX running the typical SR20 engine, brought in as a full build with all the supporting hardware already in place: upgraded fuel pump and injectors to handle E85, boost control solenoids, wastegate, and drive-by-wire throttle management. The Haltech ECU provided the platform to dial everything in for closed-circuit use.

The workshop delivered 138 kW at the wheels and 224 Nm, which is a solid outcome for a proper E85 setup on this platform. The tune prioritised drivability and consistency rather than chasing peak numbers, important when you're running ethanol in a car that'll actually see track time. Boost pressure wasn't logged, but the fuelling and ignition maps were calibrated to make the most of the cooler charge temps E85 provides.

Good reference file for workshops setting up similar SR20 builds on Haltech with full supporting mods and ethanol fuel.

Common questions
Why E85 on this build?

E85 offers better knock resistance and cooler intake temps, which suits a full turbo build on the SR20. The fuel system was already upgraded with a high-pressure pump and larger injectors to support it.

Is this tune safe for street use?

This is a Stage 3 build calibrated for closed-circuit competition use. It requires E85 fuel and all the supporting hardware listed to run as intended.

What ECU platform was used?

Haltech standalone. The drive-by-wire setup and boost control were all managed through the Haltech, giving full control over fuelling and ignition.
