Navara D40 — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- Overfueling conditions corrected during cruise and light load operation
- Increased power output
- Increased torque output
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Enhanced towing capability
This 2008 D40 Navara came through with a stage 2 highflow turbocharger and a full exhaust system already fitted. The workshop recorded 88 kW at the wheels baseline, so the goal was to pull the extra torque and power these hardware upgrades allow without running into smoke or heat issues on a truck that still needs to do work.
The calibration lifted output to 104 kW and 300 Nm at the wheels — a 16 kW gain and meaningful torque increase. Fuelling and boost mapping were adjusted to suit the larger turbo and freer exhaust flow, keeping things clean through the range. This sort of build suits off-road and competition use where the extra grunt is welcome, and the supporting hardware is already in place.
For a full Stage 3 diesel 4WD, the dyno result reflects sensible headroom rather than chasing outright numbers. The file balances drivability with the hardware on hand.
What sort of real-world difference does 300 Nm make over the stock torque?
Up from 237 Nm, the extra 63 Nm delivers noticeably stronger mid-range pull, particularly useful for towing, hill climbs, and off-road applications where low-down grunt matters more than peak power.
Is a highflow turbo and full exhaust enough for Stage 3, or are there other supporting mods?
Stage 3 typically requires upgraded fuelling and supporting hardware beyond turbo and exhaust. The modifications listed here are what was recorded with the file; other supporting work may have been done but wasn't documented in this entry.
Can this tune run on regular diesel without issues?
Yes. The calibration is built for standard Australian diesel. Fuelling and boost were mapped to keep combustion clean and avoid excessive smoke or heat with the highflow turbo fitted.
