Cerbera — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- Improved Power Output
- Improved Torque Delivery
- Enhanced Boost Control
- Optimized Fuel System Response
The TVR Cerbera is a rare sight in Australia, and getting the Emerald ECU dialled in properly makes all the difference. This 1998 example came through with a good foundation—upgraded injectors, high-pressure pump, wastegate solenoids, and drive-by-wire optimisation already in place—but the calibration needed proper attention on 98 RON.
We worked through the fuel and ignition maps methodically, addressing throttle response and ensuring the drive-by-wire calibration matched the engine's actual behaviour. The result is 188 kW at the wheels and 335 Nm, with a much more predictable pedal feel and cleaner power delivery through the mid-range. For a naturally characterful British V8, that's exactly where it should be.
Emerald systems respond well to proper tuning when the hardware's right. This one's now sorted for spirited road use and the occasional track outing.
Does this Stage 1 tune require any hardware changes?
No. This is a software-only calibration, though the vehicle already had upgraded injectors, fuel pump, wastegate solenoids, and drive-by-wire optimisation fitted.
What were the measured outputs after tuning?
188 kW at the wheels and 335 Nm torque, recorded by the workshop on their dyno.
Is the Emerald platform straightforward to calibrate?
Yes, once you understand its architecture. It's flexible and responds well to methodical tuning, particularly on unique or low-volume applications like the Cerbera.
