Navara D22 — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- 45% peak power increase
- 55% peak torque increase
- Sustainable exhaust gas temperature management
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Enhanced boost control
- Optimized fuel system calibration
This D22 came in with a full complement of hardware: high-flow turbo, top-mount intercooler, upgraded injectors, high-pressure fuel pump, boost solenoids, airbox, snorkel, and 33-inch rubber. The brief was to make it work reliably off-road and on long highway stretches without sacrificing the everyday drivability these utes are known for.
The factory ECU calibration was modified to suit the larger turbo and fuelling changes, lifting output from 74 kW to 95 kW at the wheels — a 21 kW gain. Torque stayed virtually flat at 222 Nm, up just 2 Nm from standard. That's typical for a YD25 with this level of fuelling and airflow; the platform doesn't leave much headroom once you've addressed the chokepoints.
Intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition use. The tune accounts for the larger contact patch and rolling diameter of the 33s, keeping driveability predictable under load.
Why is the torque gain so minimal with this much hardware?
The YD25 has a relatively conservative factory bottom end and fuelling ceiling. Once injectors and pump are addressed, torque plateaus quickly. The 21 kW power gain comes from improved breathing and sustained delivery higher in the rev range, not outright torque multiplication.
Is this tune suitable for daily driving and towing?
This is a Stage 3 build intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition use. The fuelling and boost strategy are optimised for those conditions, not everyday highway towing or urban commutes.
Will the factory ECU handle all these modifications reliably?
The factory ECU can be calibrated to manage this hardware, but it requires careful adjustment of fuelling tables, boost control, and timing to suit the high-flow turbo and injectors. Ongoing datalogging is recommended.
