Stage 3 ZD30 — full fuelling and turbo hardware for comp use

This 2016 Y61 Patrol came in for a ground-up Stage 3 build targeting sustained high output off-road and closed-circuit competition use. The ZD30 received a turbocharger upgrade, larger intercooler, high-pressure fuel pump, upgraded injectors, and a complete exhaust system. Boost control was retuned alongside full fuelling and timing optimisation through the factory ECU.

The workshop recorded 68 kW at the wheels, up from 38.2 kW — a gain of 29.8 kW. Torque lifted from 115.4 Nm to 202 Nm. The calibration was developed to support the expanded hardware safely under sustained load, with particular attention to fuel delivery mapping and boost solenoid control given the larger turbo and injector flow.

This is a full competition spec, not suitable for daily street duty without supporting drivetrain work. The factory platform handled the changes well once the fuelling was properly scaled.

Common questions
What's the real-world reliability like with this level of modification on a ZD30?

The ZD30 needs careful monitoring at this output level. The calibration was built conservatively with attention to EGT and fuelling consistency, but the motor is working hard. Regular servicing and oil analysis are non-negotiable, and supporting work like head studs should be strongly considered.

Can I run this tune on a stock engine with just a bolt-on turbo?

No. This is a Stage 3 file calibrated specifically for the full supporting hardware — upgraded fuel pump, injectors, intercooler, and exhaust. Running it without matching parts will cause serious damage.

Is this file locked to this exact turbo size?

The boost control and fuelling are mapped for the flow characteristics of the installed turbo and injectors. Changing either component will require recalibration to maintain safe operation.
