WRX GC8 — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- 173kW peak power delivery
- 269Nm torque output
- Fresh engine internals
- Optimised fuel and ignition mapping
This 2002 GC8 WRX arrived with a fresh EJ207 block and an Apexi Power FC already fitted. The tune was built to establish a clean, reliable baseline for the refreshed motor — nothing aggressive, just solid fuelling and timing maps to bed everything in properly.
The workshop recorded 173 kW at the wheels with 269 Nm of torque, which sits right where you'd expect for a healthy EJ207 on a Stage 1 software-only tune. No supporting hardware changes were needed at this point, so the calibration focuses on optimising what's already there: safe AFRs, smooth drivability, and a foundation the owner can build on down the track.
The Power FC gives plenty of room to grow if the owner decides to add more air or fuel later. For now, it's a sorted package that'll live happily on 98 RON pump fuel and respond well to spirited driving.
What does Stage 1 mean for this EJ207 setup?
Stage 1 here refers to a software-only tune with no additional hardware modifications required. The Apexi Power FC calibration works with the standard intake, exhaust, and fuel system to optimise the fresh engine.
Is 173 kW at the wheels typical for this platform?
Yes, that's a healthy result for a GC8 WRX running an EJ207 with a Stage 1 tune. It's a conservative, safe number that leaves headroom for future upgrades without stressing the motor during the break-in period.
Can this tune handle modifications down the line?
The Power FC platform is flexible, but any changes to intake, exhaust, turbo, or fuel system will require a revised calibration to suit the new hardware.
