Prado GXL — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- Torque increase in excess of 170 Nm
- Power boost of 33 kW
- Significant performance enhancement from stock tune
- Improved engine response and drivability
The 1GD-FTV in the 150-series Prado responds well to calibration work. This Stage 1 file lifts wheel power from 64 kW to 82 kW and torque from 318 Nm to 380 Nm, with no hardware changes required.
The extra mid-range torque makes a noticeable difference when towing or loaded touring, particularly on long highway runs where the factory tune feels flat. Throttle response is cleaner off-idle, and the transmission mapping works better with the new torque curve.
This is a conservative file that suits daily driving and weekend touring without pushing the factory hardware. Fuel consumption typically stays close to stock when driven normally, though it will climb if you use the extra torque regularly.
Does this tune require any hardware modifications?
No. This is a Stage 1 software-only calibration. The factory engine, turbo, and exhaust all remain standard.
What sort of real-world improvement can I expect?
The extra 62 Nm of torque is most noticeable when towing or overtaking loaded. The engine feels less flat in the mid-range and holds higher gears more easily on highway inclines.
Is this suitable for a daily driver that tows occasionally?
Yes. The calibration is conservative and suits mixed use. It's not an aggressive file, so reliability and drivability remain strong for touring and daily work.
