Stage 2 4D56 Triton with turbo and intercooler upgrade

This 2011 Triton came in with the typical 4D56 recipe: high-flow turbo, Plazmaman intercooler, and full exhaust. The goal was to unlock the hardware without pushing the platform too hard for daily touring and off-road work.

We landed at 109 kW at the wheels, up from 84 kW factory, with torque climbing from 420 Nm to 565 Nm. The additional 145 Nm really transforms how the truck pulls, especially mid-range where these motors spend most of their time under load. Drivability stayed predictable, throttle response cleaned up, and EGTs remained within reason through the powerband.

Suitable for highway towing and extended touring in Australian conditions. The torque band makes a noticeable difference on steep grades and overtaking at highway speeds.

Common questions
Is the factory clutch going to hold 565 Nm?

It's borderline. Some customers get away with it if they're not aggressive, but most opt for an upgraded clutch at this torque level to avoid slippage under heavy load.

What sort of real-world fuel economy can I expect after this tune?

Depends on right foot, but most see similar or slightly better economy on the highway due to less throttle needed to maintain speed. Around town it varies with driving style.

Does this setup need supporting fuel mods?

Not at this power level. The factory fuel system handles it fine with the tune adjustments. You'd only need injector work if pushing well beyond 565 Nm.
