The 1KD responds well to software-only tuning when you address the factory fuel and boost limitations. This Stage 1 file focuses on injector timing, high pressure fuel pump calibration, and wastegate solenoid control to lift midrange torque where these trucks need it most.
The dyno sheet shows 79 kW at the wheels, up from 56 kW, with torque climbing from 225 Nm to 313 Nm. That 88 Nm gain translates to noticeably better pulling power on highway overtakes and steep grades, especially with a loaded tray or van in tow. The snorkel installation ensures adequate airflow, and the boost control optimisation keeps everything stable under sustained load in summer heat.
This is a sensible baseline for a working truck. No hardware changes required beyond the snorkel, and it runs reliably on 98 RON.
What makes the 1KD a good candidate for Stage 1 tuning?
The factory calibration leaves plenty on the table, particularly in fuel delivery and boost control. With injector optimisation and wastegate solenoid tuning, you can lift torque substantially without touching the hardware.
Is this safe for daily towing and long-distance touring?
Yes. The tune stays within sensible margins and the torque curve is smooth through the midrange. Expect better driveability under load without stressing the bottom end.
Does this require any supporting mods beyond the snorkel?
No. This is a software-only Stage 1 file. The snorkel ensures adequate air supply, but no other hardware changes are needed for these power and torque figures.
