Evo 8 — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 57% increase in power output
- 77% increase in torque delivery
- Improved boost control capability
- Enhanced fuel system capacity and atomization
- Drive by wire optimization
- Better thermal management through intercooler upgrade
This 2002 Evo 8 was built for closed-circuit competition with a hybrid turbocharger, GSC camshafts, upgraded fuel system, and a full intercooler and exhaust package. The Link G4+ standalone gave us the headroom needed to dial in E85 at 2.07 bar, pulling 291 kW at the wheels—a 106 kW lift over the factory 4G63.
The calibration focused on fuel system safety and ignition timing advance under ethanol, with torque landing at 294 Nm. Boost control was stable across the pulls, and the high-pressure pump handled the fuel demand without issue. Camshaft timing required careful tuning around spool and peak power zones, but the result is a responsive, usable map for track work.
Why Link G4+ for this build?
The G4+ offers full control over ignition, fuel, and boost tables—essential when running E85 at higher boost pressures with aftermarket cams and a hybrid turbo. Factory ECU tuning wouldn't support this configuration safely.
Is 2.07 bar reliable on the 4G63?
With the right supporting mods—upgraded fuel system, intercooler, and exhaust—the 4G63 handles this level well for competition use. Regular maintenance and proper coolant/oil temps are critical.
What does the hybrid turbo bring over a stock unit?
The hybrid turbo provides earlier spool and higher flow capacity, allowing the engine to sustain 2.07 bar while supporting the 291 kW output. Factory turbo would choke well before this point.
