This 2013 Evo X runs a fully built 2.2-litre stroked 4B11 with a Kelford B camshaft and a larger turbo, all managed by Emtron standalone. The flex fuel calibration lets the car switch between 98 RON and E85 depending on what's available and what the event demands, which is useful for closed-circuit competition work where ethanol access varies.
The dyno recorded 222 kW and 402 Nm at the wheels, up from 169 kW and 330 Nm, with the capacity stroker and upgraded camshaft providing the headroom for the extra fuel and boost. The Emtron platform gave us full control over drive-by-wire throttle mapping, wastegate duty, and fuel trim across the ethanol content range.
Calibration focused on smooth tip-in, stable closed-loop lambda at cruise, and safe timing margins on E85 under load. The high-pressure fuel pump and solenoid setup keep fuelling predictable when swapping between pump fuel and ethanol blends.
What does flex fuel calibration actually do on this setup?
The Emtron ECU detects ethanol content via the sensor and adjusts fuel delivery, ignition timing, and boost targets in real time. It allows safe operation on anything from 98 RON pump fuel through to E85 without reflashing.
How much of the power gain comes from the stroker versus the turbo?
The stroker adds displacement and torque capacity, while the larger turbo supports the airflow needed at higher rpm. Both are required to hit 222 kW reliably — neither alone would get you there on this platform.
Is this calibration suitable for street use?
It's intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition. The power level, aggressive camshaft, and flex fuel tuning are best suited to controlled environments rather than daily driving.
