Evo 8 on E85 with Haltech and Kelford 272 cams

This 2004 Evo 8 came in with a solid foundation already in place: Kelford 272 cams, an HKS GT SS turbo, and the supporting fuel system to run E85 through a Haltech standalone. The goal was to properly map everything together for reliable track and closed-circuit use.

The workshop recorded 158 kW at the wheels with 267 Nm of torque after calibration. Not earth-shattering numbers, but the real value here is driveability on ethanol. The tune prioritises clean AFRs, stable ignition timing, and predictable boost response across the rev range without chasing big power figures. Drive-by-wire mapping keeps throttle response smooth and progressive.

E85 availability is patchy outside metro areas, so this calibration assumes fresh fuel and includes cold-start compensation for winter mornings. A sensible Street/Track setup for someone who wants more involvement than a reflash allows.

Common questions
Why is power lower than expected for this level of hardware?

These figures reflect what the workshop recorded post-tune. There are many variables at play—dyno type, correction factor, ambient conditions, actual turbo condition, and how conservative the calibration was set. The Haltech platform gives full control, so there may be headroom left intentionally for reliability or fuel quality concerns.

Is this file suitable for pump 98 RON or only E85?

This calibration is mapped specifically for E85. Running it on 98 RON would be unsafe due to different stoichiometric ratios, ignition timing, and fuel system demands. A separate base map is required for pump fuel.

What supporting mods are needed to run this file?

The vehicle already has the required hardware: high-pressure fuel pump, larger injectors, turbo, cams, and boost control solenoids. The Haltech ECU replaces the factory unit entirely, so no OEM ECU is involved.
