Liberty — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- Improved Power delivery
- Improved Torque output
- Enhanced mid-range performance
- Enhanced high-RPM torque response
- Optimized boost control
The naturally aspirated EZ30 in this 2006 Liberty responds well to conservative recalibration when paired with an intake and exhaust. This file was built on 98 RON and focused on improving mid-range pull and throttle response rather than chasing big headline numbers.
The result is modest but honest: 138 kW at the wheels (up 2.7 kW) and 427 Nm of torque, a meaningful increase for daily driving and highway overtaking. Fuel system calibration and ignition timing were adjusted to suit the freer-flowing hardware without asking too much of the factory bottom end.
A sensible tune for owners who want their Liberty to feel more willing without stepping into custom intake manifolds or aftermarket management. The EZ30 isn't a high-strung screamer, but it'll reward careful work.
Is Stage 1 worth it on an EZ30 Liberty with basic bolt-ons?
Yes, if the customer values improved driveability over outright power. The torque gain (414.3 Nm to 427 Nm) makes a noticeable difference in normal driving, especially with intake and exhaust already fitted.
Does this tune require 98 RON, or will it tolerate 95?
This file was calibrated for 98 RON. Running 95 may trigger timing retard and negate the torque improvements, so 98 is the recommended minimum.
What's the next step if a customer wants more from their EZ30?
Beyond this, you're looking at headers, a proper tune on a dyno with custom ignition maps, or considering forced induction if the budget allows. The factory EZ30 doesn't have a lot left in it naturally aspirated.
