Landcruiser 76 — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 34% power increase to 97kW
- 44% torque increase to 291Nm
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Enhanced engine responsiveness
- Optimized boost pressure delivery
The 1VD in the 76 doesn't give you much to work with from factory, but there's headroom once you address fuel delivery and boost control. This Stage 2 file lifts torque from 295 Nm to 430 Nm at the wheels, with power moving from 98 kW to 112 kW. The real story is in the midrange—where you're hauling a camper or long-range tanks through the desert.
We've dialled in boost control via wastegate solenoid tuning, recalibrated the high-pressure fuel pump to support the load, and adjusted injector mapping to keep EGTs sensible under sustained load. Drive-by-wire response has also been smoothed out to reduce the lag between pedal input and boost delivery.
This is a towing and touring calibration. It won't set lap records, but it'll pull cleaner and harder when you're sitting on 2500 rpm for hours at a time in 40-degree heat.
Is this tune safe for extended highway towing in summer?
Yes. The torque curve and fuel delivery have been calibrated with sustained load and heat in mind. EGTs stay within safe margins under typical touring conditions.
What supporting modifications are required for this Stage 2 file?
The tune assumes factory hardware is in good condition. Boost control and injector mapping adjustments are software-based, relying on the factory wastegate solenoid and high-pressure fuel system.
Will this affect fuel economy?
Most customers report similar or slightly improved economy on highway runs due to better midrange torque. Around town or with a heavy right foot, expect modest increases in consumption.
