E36 E36 — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 309kW peak power output achieved
- Optimized engine control calibration for swapped engine platform
- Race-focused tuning software calibration
- Full engine management integration for 1JZ swap compatibility
Classic JZ-into-E36 conversion brought to life with Haltech standalone management and a Stage 2 calibration built for circuit use. The 1JZ swap is a proven recipe, but getting it right means nailing fuel delivery, ignition timing, and throttle response across the board—not just chasing peak numbers.
This file dialled in 309 kilowatts at the wheels and 503 newton-metres, recorded on the workshop dyno after commissioning. The Haltech platform gave us full control over fuel maps, ignition advance, and idle behaviour, which is critical when you're working outside the factory ECU architecture. Idle quality stayed smooth, part-throttle response is clean, and the top end pulls hard without asking too many questions of the cooling system.
Built for closed-circuit competition. If you're running JZ swaps with standalone management and want a baseline that doesn't need babysitting, this is the sort of file that gets the job done.
What ECU platform was used for this 1JZ E36 swap?
This build runs a Haltech standalone ECU, giving full programmable control over fuel, ignition, and auxiliary outputs. It's a common and reliable choice for engine swaps where the factory ECU won't cut it.
Is this tune suitable for street use in Australia?
This calibration is intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition use only. It's not designed or endorsed for road-registered vehicles.
What power and torque did this E36 make after the tune?
The workshop dyno recorded 309 kW at the wheels and 503 Nm of torque following the Stage 2 calibration.
This calibration was developed for a workshop like yours
The BMW E36 above was calibrated by Protunes for a partner workshop — they did the vehicle work and kept their customer; we did the calibration engineering on the Haltech. Add professional ECU and TCU calibration to your workshop without employing a calibration engineer.
