M4 — Stage 2 ECU & TCU Tune
- 22% increase in peak power output
- 31% increase in peak torque delivery
- Optimized boost control for enhanced responsiveness
- Refined fuel system management with upgraded pump and injectors
- Drive-by-wire throttle optimization for improved throttle response
The S55 platform responds well once fuelling and boost control are addressed properly. This 2014 M4 came through with upgraded injectors, a high-pressure fuel pump, and revised boost solenoids to support the headroom needed for stage 2 on 98 RON. Factory ECU was calibrated alongside the TCU to manage torque delivery and shift strategy under the new load.
Result was 265 kW at the wheels, up from 217 kW, with torque lifting from 367 Nm to 481 Nm. The TCU work keeps shifts clean and protects the ZF under increased cylinder pressure. Calibration is intended for off-road and closed-circuit use where the extra mid-range and top-end come into play.
Drive-by-wire tuning smooths out throttle response without the factory hesitation, particularly useful when the torque curve fills out early and stays strong through the mid-range.
What supporting hardware is required for this stage 2 file?
Upgraded injectors, high-pressure fuel pump, and revised boost control solenoids are necessary to safely support the calibration on 98 RON. The factory ECU and TCU are both reprogrammed.
Does the TCU tune change shift behaviour noticeably?
Yes. Shift points, pressure, and torque limiters are recalibrated to suit the increased output and protect the ZF gearbox under higher load.
Is this file suitable for street use?
This calibration is provided for off-road and closed-circuit competition use only.
This calibration was developed for a workshop like yours
The BMW M4 above was calibrated by Protunes for a partner workshop — they did the vehicle work and kept their customer; we did the calibration engineering on the Factory. Add professional ECU and TCU calibration to your workshop without employing a calibration engineer.
