Stage 1 EcoBoost Focus — torque lift for daily drive

The 1.5L EcoBoost three-cylinder is a practical city engine, but it runs conservative from the factory. This Stage 1 file targets driveability and mid-range pull without asking for any hardware changes.

We've recalibrated boost control and wastegate solenoid duty to lift torque from 272 Nm to 334 Nm, with power climbing from 89.9 kW to 98 kW at the wheels. High-pressure fuel pump tables were adjusted to support the new load, and drive-by-wire tuning smooths throttle response in the lower gears. Injector timing was optimised to suit 98 RON.

The result is a more usable Focus for overtaking and on-ramps, staying within safe margins for the factory hardware. It's a solid uplift for workshops offering entry-level tunes on the 1.5T platform.

Common questions
Does this tune require any hardware modifications?

No. This is a Stage 1 software-only calibration. The factory turbo, injectors, and fuel system are retained.

What fuel is required after the tune?

98 RON minimum. The calibration is built around premium unleaded and won't perform safely on 91 or 95.

Is the torque increase safe for the factory clutch and gearbox?

The manual gearbox and clutch should tolerate this torque level for normal driving, but workshops should advise customers that clutch slip may appear sooner under aggressive use.

This calibration was developed for a workshop like yours

The Ford Focus above was calibrated by Protunes for a partner workshop — they did the vehicle work and kept their customer; we did the calibration engineering on the Factory. Add professional ECU and TCU calibration to your workshop without employing a calibration engineer.
