Hilux N80 — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- Enhanced daily commute drivability
- Optimized engine control management
- Improved engine performance characteristics
- Daily use calibration focus
This 2022 N80 Hilux build focused on improving driveability and towing response without touching the hardware beyond a Redback exhaust system. The Stage 1 ECU calibration delivered 8 kW at the wheels, taking power from 107 kW to 115 kW, but the real story is the torque curve: 325 Nm to 410 Nm.
That 85 Nm gain makes a noticeable difference when pulling a loaded trailer or merging onto the highway. The factory tune leaves plenty on the table, and this file brings it into a much more usable range without stressing the drivetrain. Keeps the ute reliable for daily work and long regional trips.
The Redback system helps with flow and gives the calibration a bit more room to move. A straightforward software update for workshops chasing practical results on a common platform.
Does this tune require any supporting hardware besides the exhaust?
No. This is a Stage 1 software-only calibration. The Redback exhaust is the only hardware fitted, and the tune works within the factory engine configuration.
What fuel does this calibration require?
Fuel type was not recorded with this build. Confirm with Protunes whether the file is suited to standard diesel or requires premium specification.
Is this torque increase safe for the factory 4WD drivetrain?
The calibration stays within sensible limits for a Stage 1 file on the N80 platform. These figures are typical for a conservative tune that prioritises reliability and towing work.
