E30 E30 — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- Optimized engine mapping for naturally aspirated S50 configuration
- Enhanced fuel delivery and ignition timing calibration
- Improved throttle response via ITB tuning
- Maximized induction efficiency through carbon intake manifold
- Race-focused ECU calibration for forced induction-ready platform
This E30 runs the full S50 swap treatment: Schrick 284/296 camshafts, individual throttle bodies with a carbon intake setup, and 3-2-1 headers feeding the Motec M130 standalone. The calibration focused on extracting clean power from the ITB configuration while managing the longer duration cams without sacrificing street manners.
The workshop-supplied dyno sheet shows 183 kW at the wheels and 252 Nm, which is solid given the naturally aspirated setup and the priority on throttle response over outright torque. ITB tuning requires careful attention to fuel distribution and ignition timing per cylinder, and the M130 gives you the tools to get it right.
Ideal for weekend circuit work or spirited road driving where instant throttle response matters more than low-end grunt.
Why the Motec M130 for this build?
The M130 offers individual cylinder control, which is essential for tuning ITBs properly. You need per-cylinder fuel and ignition maps to balance out any intake runner differences and get the most from this kind of induction setup.
How do the Schrick cams affect driveability?
284/296 is fairly aggressive, so idle quality takes a hit and low-end torque suffers compared to stock S50 profiles. The trade-off is stronger mid-to-top end, which suits the ITB setup and track use.
Is 183 kW typical for this spec?
It's in the ballpark for a well-sorted S50 with these mods. NA power is all about airflow and tuning precision—ITBs and headers help, but you're still working within the limits of displacement and cam timing.
