140i — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- Power increase from 224kW to 274kW (+50kW gain)
- Torque increase from 459Nm to 521Nm (+62Nm gain)
- Enhanced engine responsiveness through map switching capability
- Multiple burble map configurations for driving dynamics
- Optimized fuel delivery and ignition timing
The B58 responds well to basic bolt-ons and a decent calibration file. This 140i picked up 50 kW at the wheels and 62 Nm with a downpipe, intake, and a BOOTMOD Stage 2 file — straightforward hardware, solid result.
The calibration was supplied to the workshop and run on their dyno. Torque sits at 521 Nm now, which is plenty for street use on 98 RON without needing to step up supporting fuel system yet. The BOOTMOD platform gives good flexibility for these inline sixes, and the result reflects what the hardware will support at this level.
Stage 2 keeps things reliable for daily driving while opening up the mid-range. No heroics, just a well-sorted RWD six with enough punch to make the drive home more interesting.
What fuel does this Stage 2 file require?
Fuel spec wasn't recorded with this build, but typical BOOTMOD Stage 2 files for the B58 are calibrated for 98 RON pump fuel. Confirm with your calibration request.
Is a downpipe necessary for Stage 2, or will the tune work on stock exhaust?
The downpipe is part of the Stage 2 spec — it frees up exhaust flow and allows the calibration to run the additional boost and timing safely. Stock downpipe would limit results.
Will 274 kW at the wheels stress the ZF8 gearbox in the 140i?
The ZF8 in these is generally robust at this power level for street use. If the car sees track work or repeated hard launches, a TCU tune and fluid service intervals become more important.
