M140 — Stage 2 ECU & TCU Tune
- increased power output to 283kW
- boost pressure elevation to 1.4 bar
- thermal control optimization
- transmission refinement and shift quality
- sports mode burble enhancement
- drivability and precision improvement
The B58 responds well to a proper Stage 2 setup, and this 2018 M140 makes the case. With a high-flow downpipe, enhanced intake, and both ECU and XHP transmission calibration, the car recorded 283 kW at the wheels from a baseline of 227.5 kW — a gain of 55.5 kW. Torque climbed from 470 Nm to 531 Nm, with boost sitting at 1.4 bar.
The XHP TCU file sharpens shift behaviour and lockup strategy to suit the extra output, particularly useful on the RWD platform where torque management matters. We tuned for closed-circuit competition use, keeping the drivetrain in mind.
The B58 carries plenty of headroom on 98 RON, and this result reflects what's achievable with straightforward hardware and thorough calibration work.
What's the advantage of pairing the ECU file with an XHP transmission tune?
The XHP calibration adjusts shift points, firmness, and torque converter lockup to match the increased power and torque. Without it, the factory TCU logic can feel sluggish or hunt for gears under the new load.
Is 1.4 bar safe for a Stage 2 B58 on pump fuel?
Yes, 1.4 bar is well within the safe envelope for a Stage 2 B58 on 98 RON with proper calibration. The engine has strong factory internals and responds predictably at this level.
Does this setup suit daily driving or is it circuit-only?
This file is framed for closed-circuit competition use. That said, driveability remains smooth with the XHP tune handling everyday shifts cleanly, though it's tuned to make the most of the added output when pushed.
