N20 328i with FMIC and downpipe – 166 kW at the wheels

The N20 responds well to the usual bolt-on path, and this 2013 328i is a good example. With an intake, front-mount intercooler and downpipe fitted, the Stage 2 remap brought the car to 166 kW at the wheels, up from 149 kW baseline. Torque lifted from 280 Nm to 380 Nm, which transforms the midrange feel without needing to chase revs.

Boost is sitting at 1.21 bar, and the cooler intake temps from the FMIC keep things stable under load. The calibration works with the hardware on hand – nothing aggressive, just a solid street setup that makes use of the supporting mods. Decent gain for the outlay, and the torque curve makes daily driving more engaging.

Common questions
Is 380 Nm safe on the stock N20 bottom end?

The N20 can handle this level on good fuel and with proper heat management. The front-mount intercooler and downpipe help keep charge temps and backpressure in check, which is half the battle.

What fuel does this tune require?

Fuel type wasn't recorded with this file, but most N20 Stage 2 tunes are written for 98 RON pump fuel. Confirm with the workshop before flashing.

Does the torque come on early or is it top-end focused?

The 100 Nm jump suggests strong midrange delivery, typical of a boosted four-cylinder with a freer-flowing exhaust. It won't feel laggy.
