328i — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- Improved Power Output
- Improved Torque Delivery
- Enhanced Boost Control
- Optimized Fuel System Response
- Drive By Wire Refinement
The N20 responds well once you address the fuelling and boost control bottlenecks. This 2014 328i came through with upgraded injectors, high-pressure fuel pump, wastegate solenoids and boost control hardware in place, allowing the calibration to push well beyond factory limits on 98 RON pump fuel.
The workshop recorded 119.7 kW at the wheels in stock form and 146 kW after the tune, a gain of 26.3 kW. Torque lifted from 429.7 Nm to 550 Nm, which makes a noticeable difference in mid-range punch without asking too much of the N20's single turbo. Drive-by-wire tuning smooths out the throttle progression and keeps the power delivery linear.
This is a solid foundation for a street-driven 328i that still sees daily use. The hardware's there to support more if the owner wants to revisit it down the track, but as it sits, it's reliable and repeatable on readily available fuel.
Why does this N20 need injector and fuel pump upgrades for Stage 2?
The factory fuelling system on the N20 runs close to capacity even at stock power. Once you lift boost and timing, upgraded injectors and a high-pressure fuel pump are necessary to maintain safe air-fuel ratios and avoid lean conditions under load.
Is 550 Nm torque safe for the N20 long-term?
On 98 RON with proper fuelling and boost control hardware in place, 550 Nm sits within a conservative window for a Stage 2 N20. Regular servicing and monitoring are expected, but it's a proven output level for street use.
Can this tune run on 95 RON if 98 isn't available?
This calibration is mapped for 98 RON. Running 95 RON will pull timing and reduce performance, but the ECU will adapt to prevent knock. It's not ideal for sustained use at these power levels.
