X6-M — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 18% power increase
- 25% torque increase
- Increased engine response
- Improved power delivery
- Enhanced torque characteristics
The 2009 X6-M remains a capable platform when the factory ECU is opened up properly. This Stage 2 file concentrated on mid-range torque delivery rather than chasing peak power, lifting torque from 510 Nm to 600 Nm at the wheels while power moved from 280 kW to 288 kW.
The calibration work centered on wastegate solenoid tuning and boost control to support the broader torque curve, with drive-by-wire recalibrated to suit the revised delivery. High pressure fuel pump mapping and injector optimization kept fuelling stable on 98 RON under the higher load. Intended for closed-circuit use, the result is a more responsive mid-range without stepping into the territory that demands full supporting hardware.
Why is the power gain relatively modest compared to the torque increase?
The S63 in this application was already making reasonable peak power from factory. The focus was on building usable mid-range torque rather than chasing top-end numbers, which suits the vehicle's weight and intended use.
Does Stage 2 on the factory ECU require upgraded fuelling hardware?
Not for this level. The factory high pressure pump and injectors were retained and optimized through calibration alone. Fuelling remained stable on 98 RON pump fuel throughout the dyno runs.
What does wastegate solenoid tuning actually change?
It refines how boost is requested and controlled, allowing smoother delivery and better holding of target boost under varying load and temperature conditions without crude overboosting.
