Nissan Navara Diesel Tuning & Calibration
The Navara is a mainstay of the Australian ute market, and its YS23 and YD25 diesels tow and tour hard. A calibration built around exhaust temperature is what makes them pull cleanly and last.
Nissan Navara 2.3L YS23 (twin-turbo) & 2.5L YD25 Turbo-Diesel
The Nissan Navara 2.3L YS23 (twin-turbo, NP300/D23) and 2.5L YD25 (D40) turbo-diesels are calibrated with a custom diesel file focused on EGT-safe fuelling, towing and throttle response, and boost and rail-pressure control. Every calibration is developed from the stock read and validated against logged exhaust temperature, boost and rail data before sign-off.
What the Nissan Navara Diesel needs from a calibration
The YS23 — the 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel in the D23 Navara (NP300) — and the older 2.5-litre YD25 in the D40 are the common-rail engines behind one of Australia's big-selling utes. Owners want stronger, cleaner towing and touring response, and a calibration matched to how the truck is used delivers it.
As with any working diesel, exhaust gas temperature is the limit. The calibration shapes fuelling and response around safe EGT under load and verifies it on logged data, so the truck feels stronger without running dangerous temperatures towing up a grade. The twin-turbo YS23 also needs its boost delivery coordinated cleanly across the two chargers.
Boost and rail-pressure control and throttle response round out the work, all developed from the stock read and revised against your logs. Done as engineering, the Navara tows and tours the way owners want while staying within safe thermal limits.
What we calibrate it on
Custom diesel calibration
Bench or OBD-read YS23/YD25 ECU developed into a custom file — EGT-safe fuelling, response and boost control.
Datalog review
EGT, boost and rail-pressure logs reviewed to verify the calibration is safe under real towing load.
What the work concentrates on
EGT-safe fuelling
Fuelling shaped around safe exhaust gas temperature under load — the limit that protects a working diesel, verified on logged EGT.
Towing & throttle response
Response off idle and through the mid-range calibrated for towing and touring, not just a peak number.
Twin-turbo boost (YS23)
Boost delivery coordinated cleanly across the twin turbos on the 2.3, so it pulls smoothly and holds target under load.
Rail-pressure control
Rail pressure coordinated with fuelling so injection is clean and consistent across the operating range.
Where the Nissan Navara Diesel catches workshops out
High EGT towing
An over-fuelled Navara runs dangerous exhaust temperatures under load. Fuelling is shaped around safe EGT and verified on logged data, not assumed.
Twin-turbo boost delivery on the YS23
The 2.3's two turbos need coordinated control. Boost is calibrated to deliver cleanly across the range and trimmed on logged target-vs-actual.
Soft response off idle
Low-down response is fuelling and boost calibration. It's tuned for towing and touring drivability and verified on data.

Nissan Navara Diesel calibration — questions workshops ask
Which Navara engines do you tune?
The 2.3-litre twin-turbo YS23 in the D23/NP300 and the 2.5-litre YD25 in the D40. Each gets a custom file developed from its own stock read and validated on logged EGT, boost and rail data.
Is a Navara diesel tune safe for towing?
Yes when it's done as calibration — fuelling is shaped around safe exhaust gas temperature under load and verified on logged EGT, so the truck tows stronger without cooking itself.
Can you improve the twin-turbo response on the 2.3?
Yes. Boost delivery across the two turbos is calibrated to come in cleanly and hold target, coordinated with fuelling for smooth, strong response under load.
What do you need from my workshop?
The stock ECU read plus data logs — exhaust temperature, boost and rail pressure under real load. We develop and validate the calibration from that and revise until confirmed safe and stable.
