This front-drive Golf R picked up 18 kW and 24 Nm with a Stage 1 file over the factory tune, rolling out at 197 kW and 411 Nm measured at the wheels. The customer had already fitted an upgraded air intake, downpipe, and cat-back exhaust before bringing it in, so the calibration focused on optimising delivery with those modifications in place.
The result is typical for this platform when breathing hardware is sorted first. Throttle response sharpens noticeably, and the midrange pulls harder without any lag penalty. Useful bump for a car that already hustles on the road, and it's done on factory internals with no hardware changes required beyond what was already there.
Is this tune safe on the stock engine and turbo?
Yes. This is a Stage 1 software-only file, and the power and torque figures sit well within the safe envelope for the factory drivetrain with 98 RON fuel.
Why is this listed as FWD when the MK7.5R is AWD?
That's a data entry error on our end. The MK7.5R is all-wheel drive from the factory. The tune and result are correct as described.
What modifications are needed to run this file?
This customer had an air intake, downpipe, and cat-back already fitted. At minimum, a high-flow exhaust system is recommended to get the most out of a Stage 1 file on this platform.
