Amarok — Stage 1 ECU & TCU Tune
- Torque increase of 75 Nm in early RPM band
- Torque increase of 140 Nm in higher RPM range
- Power output increase of over 40 kW
- Enhanced transmission line pressure
- Improved shift responsiveness
- Optimized drivability under load
The 3.0L V6 diesel in the 2018 Amarok responds well to calibration work. This Stage 1 tune lifts power from 148 kW to 178 kW at the wheels, with torque climbing from 490 Nm to 540 Nm. All software, no hardware changes required.
Both ECU and TCU were addressed. The transmission tune includes line pressure optimisation to handle the extra torque and improve shift quality under load. The result is a smoother, more responsive driveline that suits long highway runs and loaded touring without the harshness that can come from canned files.
Workshop reported dyno results confirm the gains. The calibration stays within safe margins for the OEM turbo and fuel system, making it a practical option for owners after more usable performance without the complexity of hardware upgrades.
Does the TCU tune require any transmission hardware changes?
No. The transmission tuning and line pressure optimisation work with the factory hardware. It's calibrated to handle the increased torque while improving shift behaviour.
What makes this suitable as a Stage 1 tune?
It's software-only and works within the limits of the stock turbo, injectors, and fuel system. No supporting mods required, which keeps cost and complexity down for the customer.
How does the torque increase affect towing and loaded driving?
The 50 Nm gain provides better response when loaded or towing, particularly in the mid-range where you need it most. The TCU work ensures the transmission holds gears appropriately under load.
