The RB30 makes strong torque from the factory, but on E85 with a proper fuel and boost control setup it becomes a genuine weapon for off-road and closed-circuit use. This VL came in for a full Stage 3 package: upgraded injectors, dual fuel pump system including high-pressure, wastegate and boost solenoid control, and drive-by-wire integration all managed through Haltech.
The result is 360 kilowatts at the wheels and 730 newton-metres, reliable and repeatable on E85. The factory block handles it well when the tune respects the platform's limits — ignition timing, fuel pressure, and closed-loop boost control are all dialled for consistency rather than chasing peak numbers that won't hold.
Calibration focused on clean part-throttle response and stable closed-loop operation under load. E85's cooling benefit and knock resistance let us push timing where 98 RON simply wouldn't allow, but the real work is in transient fuelling and making sure the DBW maps don't fight the driver mid-corner.
Is the factory RB30 block safe at this output on E85?
Yes, with proper supporting hardware and conservative calibration. The RB30's long stroke and cast iron block cope well at 360 kW when fuelling, ignition timing, and boost control are all managed carefully. It's the tune and component quality that determine reliability, not just the peak number.
