The 2018 BT-50 diesel is a solid touring and towing platform, but the factory tune leaves room on the table. This Stage 1 ECU file lifts power from 117 kW to 131 kW at the wheels, with torque climbing from 375 Nm to 480 Nm. The customer had already fitted an upgraded exhaust system, which gave us the headroom to safely open up fuelling and timing without pushing EGTs into risky territory.
The torque curve is where this tune really earns its keep. The midrange fills out nicely, making overtaking and highway merging far less laboured, and the extra grunt takes the strain off the drivetrain when towing or loaded. No hardware changes beyond the exhaust, just recalibrated maps and a far more usable power delivery for Australian conditions.
Does this tune require any hardware upgrades beyond the exhaust?
No. This is a Stage 1 software-only file. The upgraded exhaust was already fitted by the customer, and no further hardware is required.
How does the extra torque affect towing and everyday driveability?
The jump to 480 Nm makes a noticeable difference when towing or loaded, with stronger midrange pull and less gear hunting. Day-to-day driving is smoother and more responsive without any trade-off in reliability.
What fuel does this tune require?
Standard diesel. No special fuel or additives are needed for this calibration.
