Commodore VE — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- 27% power increase
- 22% torque increase
- Improved fuel efficiency
- Enhanced midrange performance
- Improved throttle response
- Stronger overall engine response
This one came through with a replacement crate engine already fitted, so the priority was setting up a proper base calibration to suit the full exhaust and over-radiator intake. The factory tune leaves plenty on the table with the Alloytec V6, and with decent hardware in place, we could push into more useful territory without any drama.
We lifted output from 118 kW to 150 kW at the wheels, torque up from 205 Nm to 251 Nm on 98 RON. The result is a much sharper response in the mid-range and better top-end pull, which is where these VE sedans need the help most. It's a Stage 1 software-only calibration, so no extra hardware was required beyond what was already on the car.
Good match between the intake, exhaust flow and fuel/ignition calibration. The VE platform responds well when the file is written with some care.
Does the factory ECU handle this power level reliably on the VE SV6?
Yes, the factory ECU copes fine at this output level. The Alloytec is understressed from the factory, and Stage 1 calibration stays well within safe margins for fuel, ignition timing and load.
What's the real-world difference with 32 kW extra at the wheels?
You'll notice stronger mid-range pull and much better overtaking response, particularly from 3000 rpm upward. The car feels like it should have from the factory—less hunting for gears on the highway and more useful punch when you need it.
Can this tune run on 95 RON if 98 isn't available?
The calibration is written for 98 RON. Running 95 occasionally won't hurt, but you'll lose some timing and the ECU will pull back performance to protect the engine. Stick with 98 for the full result.
