3 MPS — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- 36% increase in power output to 165kW
- 70% increase in torque to 267Nm
- Optimized boost control to 1.76 bar
- Enhanced fuel delivery and atomization
- Improved throttle response and drivability
- Turbo efficiency optimization
This 2009 MPS came in with a full hardware package already fitted—high-flow turbo, upgraded intercooler, high-pressure fuel pump, full exhaust, and boost control solenoids. The goal was to properly calibrate the factory ECU to support 1.76 bar and make safe, repeatable power on pump 98. Intended for closed-circuit competition use.
The MZR-DISI responds well when you get the fuelling and ignition timing dialled in around the new turbo's efficiency island. Drive-by-wire calibration was critical here to manage torque delivery through the front axle—267 Nm is workable, but only with throttle shaping that doesn't light up the inside tyre mid-corner.
Workshop-supplied dyno showed 165 kW at the wheels, up from a baseline 121.3 kW. Torque climbed from 157.1 Nm to 267 Nm. Solid result for a platform that's still on the factory ECU and running regular premium unleaded.
Can the factory ECU handle this boost pressure reliably?
Yes, with the right supporting hardware—upgraded fuel pump, boost control solenoids, and proper calibration. The factory ECU has enough headroom for 1.76 bar when fuelling and ignition are tuned correctly for 98 RON.
How does 267 Nm handle through the front wheels?
Drive-by-wire calibration is essential. Torque shaping in first and second gear manages traction, but this level of output is really suited to competition use where you can manage throttle application and tyre choice.
What's the power gain over stock?
43.7 kW at the wheels—from 121.3 kW to 165 kW. Torque increased from 157.1 Nm to 267 Nm, measured on the workshop's dyno.
