VF GTS on E85: 350 kW at the wheels with factory ECU

This 2014 VF GTS build demonstrates how far the factory LS platform can be pushed on E85 with the right supporting hardware. The customer wanted proper track-day power without going standalone, so we calibrated both ECU and TCU to suit upgraded fuel delivery, revised boost control via solenoids and wastegate management, and optimised throttle mapping through drive-by-wire tuning.

The result is 350 kW and 621 Nm at the wheels—a jump of 79 kW over the factory output. E85 gives the headroom for timing and fuelling that premium unleaded simply can't match on a forced-induction LS in Australian summer heat. Gearbox calibration ensures the TCU holds gears under load and shifts cleanly at higher torque levels.

This file is suited to closed-circuit competition use where E85 is available and the supporting fuel system is up to spec.

Common questions
What modifications are required for this level of output on the factory ECU?

High-pressure fuel pump, upgraded injectors, boost solenoid and wastegate control upgrades are essential. Drive-by-wire optimisation is also included in the calibration to improve throttle response under the revised boost and fuelling strategy.

Does this tune also recalibrate the transmission?

Yes, this is a combined ECU and TCU tune. The gearbox file adjusts shift points, torque converter lockup, and line pressure to handle the increased torque and suit track-oriented driving.

Is E85 required or can this file run on 98 RON?

This file is calibrated specifically for E85. Running it on 98 RON would result in severe knock and potential engine damage due to the timing and boost strategy optimised for ethanol's cooling and octane properties.
