i30 N Line — Stage 1 ECU Tune
- 90Nm additional torque delivery
- Improved throttle response
- Enhanced overall drivability
- Optimized engine control management
The 2023 i30 N Line picks up useful midrange torque with a Stage 1 ECU tune calibrated around a cat-back exhaust. Power lifts modestly from 114 to 115 kW at the wheels, but torque climbs from 205 to 289 Nm — an 84 Nm gain that makes the driveline noticeably more responsive through second and third gear.
This is a software-only package suited to daily use on 98 RON. The factory hardware stays intact, so the tune focuses on optimising fuelling and timing to make better use of the freer exhaust flow. It's a straightforward gain for a car that already handles well and now pulls harder out of roundabouts and through overtaking zones without drama.
Why does power barely move while torque jumps so much?
The factory tune on the N Line 1.6 turbo is already power-limited by hardware. The tune unlocks midrange torque without exceeding safe cylinder pressure or turbo speed, so you get drive feel without needing clutch or fuelling upgrades.
Does the cat-back exhaust need to be fitted before the tune?
Yes. The calibration assumes the reduced backpressure from the cat-back system. Running the tune on a stock exhaust could cause fuelling issues.
Is this tune safe for daily driving on 98 RON?
Absolutely. It's calibrated for Australian 98 RON pump fuel and requires no other hardware changes. The torque gain sits well within the capability of the factory clutch and driveline.
