Stage 1 XR5 Turbo — torque lift with bolt-ons in place

This 2010 Focus XR5 came in with a turbo-back exhaust, upgraded intercooler, and intake already fitted. The Stage 1 file was built to take advantage of that hardware without touching anything else.

Power moved from 118 kW to 122 kW at the wheels — modest, but torque is where the story sits. Output jumped from 215 Nm to 360 Nm, which changes how the car drives in the midrange and how it pulls out of second and third. Calibration focused on fuelling, timing, and load targets to suit the improved airflow path.

It's a useful step for a workshop looking to extract more from an XR5 that's already been breathed on, without asking the owner for a hardware shopping list.

Common questions
Why is the power gain so small compared to torque?

The XR5 Turbo platform responds well to torque increases in Stage 1 form, especially with supporting bolt-ons. The modest power gain reflects a conservative tune that prioritises driveability and reliability on 98 RON pump fuel without pushing the factory turbo hard.

Does this tune require any further hardware changes?

No. The car already had the supporting bolt-ons fitted. This is a software-only Stage 1 calibration designed to work with the existing exhaust, intercooler, and intake.

Is this suitable for daily driving?

Yes. The tune is aimed at street use with improved midrange response. The torque increase is spread usably and suits daily driving on 98 RON pump fuel.
