A45 AMG W176 — Stage 1 ECU & TCU Tune
- 35% torque augmentation
- 40kW midrange power increase
- Enhanced engine responsiveness
- Optimized transmission mapping
- Improved power delivery characteristics
The W176 A45 with the M133 responds well to calibration when paired with improved airflow. This car arrived with an Antz performance intake already fitted, and the brief was to extract usable torque without chasing headline power.
Stage 1 calibration was applied to both ECU and TCU. Wheel power lifted modestly from 218 to 221 kW, but torque is where the tune delivers: 341 to 441 Nm, a 100 Nm gain that transforms mid-range punch. The transmission calibration sharpens shift behaviour and holds gears longer under load.
The result is a more responsive drivetrain that suits street use and faster road work. No supporting hardware was required beyond the intake, making this an efficient step up for a factory turbo package.
Why such a small power gain with a 100 Nm torque increase?
The M133 is already highly strung from factory. Stage 1 calibration on the stock turbo prioritises usable torque through the midrange rather than peak power, which is a more practical outcome on 98 RON with no additional hardware.
What does the TCU calibration change?
Stage 1 transmission tuning adjusts shift points, firmness, and torque limit thresholds to suit the increased engine output. It holds gears longer under throttle and reduces hesitation during part-throttle driving.
Is this suitable for daily driving?
Yes. The calibration maintains driveability and doesn't require any supporting mods beyond the performance intake already fitted. It's a straightforward software upgrade with real-world benefit.
