The M178 twin-turbo V8 responds well to calibration work without touching hardware. This Stage 1 file concentrates on boost control and solenoid optimisation, alongside refinements to the high-pressure fuel pump and injector maps to support the extra load. Drive-by-wire calibration keeps throttle response predictable under the added torque.
The result is 327 kW at the wheels, up from 305 kW, with torque lifting from 441 Nm to 600 Nm. All of that comes through on 98 RON with the factory ECU and no supporting mods. The torque band fills out mid-range, which suits the weight and gearing of the GLE platform on the road.

Does this Stage 1 tune require any hardware changes?
No. This is a software-only calibration using the factory ECU, turbochargers, injectors and fuel system. It's designed to work within the margins of the standard M178 hardware on 98 RON pump fuel.
What does the torque increase feel like in a heavy AWD SUV?
