GLA45S Stage 1 on 98: reliable mid-range for the street

The H247 GLA45S already gets a strong factory calibration, but there's headroom in the ME139 for a safe, daily-usable lift without touching hardware. This Stage 1 file brought it from 275 kW to 292 kW at the wheels, with torque climbing from 395 Nm to 454 Nm—enough to sharpen response without asking too much of the OEM fuel system or clutches.

The tuning approach centred on boost control refinement, wastegate calibration, and injector scaling to keep the high-pressure fuel pump working well within safe margins on 98 RON. Drive-by-wire mapping was smoothed to suit the extra torque, particularly in the first half of the pedal where the factory calibration can feel a touch abrupt. Result is a sharper, more linear delivery that suits the urban cut-and-thrust these cars see most of the time.

Common questions
Does the factory gearbox and AWD system handle the extra torque without issue?

Yes. The standard 8-speed DCT and Haldex-based AWD are calibrated to handle this output comfortably. We've seen no issues with clutch slip or drivetrain strain at this level.

Is 98 RON fuel safe for these figures, or does it need E85?

This file is calibrated specifically for 98 RON pump fuel. The ME139 has enough timing and fueling authority to run these numbers safely without ethanol.

What are the real-world gains like—just top end, or does it pull harder through the range?

Midrange lift is noticeable from around 2500 rpm onward. It's not just a peak number; the extra torque makes everyday overtaking and on-ramp merges considerably easier.
