Stage 3 PX Ranger 3.2 — Garrett turbo and full exhaust

This 2018 PX Ranger came in for a full Stage 3 overhaul, built for closed-circuit competition and off-road work where the factory tune just doesn't cut it. The core hardware is a Garrett turbocharger backed by a proper intercooler setup, full exhaust system, and supporting piping. Fuelling and airflow sorted, the factory ECU was recalibrated to match.

The dyno sheet tells the story: 38 kW gain at the wheels, landing at 91 kW, with torque climbing from 225 Nm to 429 Nm. The file was mapped to make full use of the new turbo without pushing duty cycles into the red. Throttle response is sharp, and the mid-range pull is worlds apart from stock.

This sort of build needs careful fuelling management and realistic expectations around component wear. It's not a daily mall crawler anymore—it's a proper off-road tool with the legs to back it up.

Common questions
What hardware is essential for this level of output on the 3.2L?

You need a larger turbocharger, upgraded intercooler and piping, and a free-flowing exhaust system at minimum. The factory fuelling can support this power level with careful calibration, but it's at the upper end of what the stock pump and injectors will handle reliably.

Is this file suitable for towing or highway work?

This is a Stage 3 competition and off-road build. While the torque curve is strong, the calibration is aggressive and prioritises performance over longevity. Not recommended for heavy towing or extended highway touring.

How does the factory ECU handle this much torque?

The factory ECU can be recalibrated to manage the new turbo and fuelling demands, but you're working within the limits of the platform. Torque limiters, boost control, and fuel maps all need precise adjustment to avoid overrun or limp mode.
