C63 AMG — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- 11% power increase
- 4% torque increase
- 70Nm midrange torque fill
- Improved throttle response
- Enhanced engine performance
The M156 is already a strong naturally aspirated engine, but the factory calibration leaves room on the table once you free up the exhaust. This 2010 C63 came through with a custom mild steel exhaust replacing the restrictive OEM system, and we supplied a revised factory ECU calibration to suit.
The result was 270 kW at the wheels, up from 243 kW, with torque lifting from 433 Nm to 451 Nm. The gains are modest but honest — you're optimising timing, fuel delivery and throttle response to match the improved flow, not chasing inflated numbers. On 98 RON the tune sits comfortably within the engine's thermal and mechanical limits.
It's a straightforward Stage 2 setup that sharpens throttle response and makes the most of the hardware without drama. Perfect for a road-driven C63 that sees occasional spirited use.
What modifications are required before this calibration can be installed?
At minimum, a free-flowing exhaust system. This car ran a custom mild steel exhaust. The factory ECU was recalibrated to suit the reduced backpressure and optimise fuelling and timing on 98 RON.
Is 27 kW a typical gain for a Stage 2 M156 tune?
Yes. The M156 responds well to exhaust and calibration changes, but it's naturally aspirated so gains are linear and honest. You're extracting what the factory left behind, not multiplying power through boost.
Can this tune run safely on Australian pump 98 RON in summer?
Yes, the calibration was developed for 98 RON and stays within safe margins for timing and AFR even in higher ambient temperatures.
