CLA45 AMG facelift — Stage 2 ECU & TCU Tune
- Peak torque increased by 112 Nm
- Midrange power gains of 35 kW
- Additional 50 Nm torque during boost transition
- Optimized boost solenoid control
- Remapped transmission for improved torque delivery
- Enhanced fuel system response
The M133 in this 2018 CLA45 facelift responds well to downpipe and calibration work, especially in the torque department. With a performance downpipe freeing up the exhaust side and fuel pump tuning supporting the demand, we lifted torque from 314 Nm to 402 Nm at the wheels while keeping peak power modest at 213 kW — a 12 kW gain.
The TCU calibration was tuned alongside the engine to match shift pressure and timing to the new torque curve. Drive-by-wire was optimised for smoother throttle response, and boost control was dialled in to suit 98 RON on the street. It's a well-rounded Stage 2 setup for closed-circuit use, with the bulk of the work happening in the midrange where the little four-cylinder spends most of its time.
Why is the torque gain so much larger than the power gain?
The M133 is already working hard at peak power in factory trim. The downpipe and calibration work unlocked headroom in the midrange where boost and fuelling could be safely lifted, resulting in a strong torque increase while keeping the top end conservative on 98 RON.
What does the TCU tune change on this platform?
Shift points, line pressure, and torque limiters are recalibrated to suit the new engine output. The factory TCU would otherwise pull timing or delay shifts to protect itself against the higher torque figure.
Is this suitable for daily driving?
This file is intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition use. The calibration is smooth and driveable, but it exceeds factory ADR limits.
