Focus XR5 — Stage 2 ECU Tune
- Increased power output by 75kW
- Enhanced torque delivery by 230Nm
- Improved boost control
- Optimized fuel injection mapping
- Refined wastegate management
The 2007 Focus XR5 Turbo arrived already fitted with an aftermarket air intake, uprated boost solenoid, wastegate actuator, and blow-off valve. The factory ECU was still in place, running the stock calibration. Workshop supplied baseline figures of 55 kW and 160 Nm at the wheels, which pointed to either a tired wastegate or restrictive factory tune holding it well below where it should've been.
Our Stage 2 file brought it to 130 kW and 390 Nm at the wheels on 98 RON—a gain of 75 kW. The torque curve cleans up nicely once the solenoid and actuator are doing their job properly. Intended for off-road and closed-circuit use where the extra midrange is useful.
Why was baseline power so low for an XR5?
Workshop data showed 55 kW at the wheels before the tune. Likely a wastegate fault or severely restricted factory calibration. The hardware was already upgraded, so the calibration unlocked what the parts could support.
What's required for Stage 2 on this platform?
Minimum is intake and boost control improvements. This car had intake, uprated solenoid, wastegate actuator, and blow-off valve fitted. Factory ECU accepts the recalibration without issue.
Is this safe on 98 RON in Australian summer?
File is calibrated for 98 RON pump fuel and accounts for typical ambient temperatures. Intended for competition use off-road.
