Mustang GT — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- 109% increase in power output to 266kW
- 38% increase in torque to 694Nm
- Enhanced boost control via solenoid management
- Improved drive-by-wire response
- Optimized fuel system delivery
- Superior engine management calibration
A thorough forced-induction build for closed-circuit competition. The 2016 Mustang GT came in with the Whipple 2.9 kit already fitted, along with upgraded throttle body, intake manifold, headers, full exhaust, high pressure fuel pump, injectors, and boost solenoids. The tune targeted safe power delivery on 98 RON while respecting the thermal and fuelling limits of the Coyote platform under sustained boost.
The factory ECU calibration addressed fuelling tables, ignition advance under boost, throttle mapping, and wastegate control. Dyno results showed 266 kW at the wheels, up from 127 kW baseline, with torque climbing from 503 Nm to 694 Nm. The file prioritises repeatable performance over multiple laps rather than peak numbers on a single pull.
Can the factory ECU handle a Whipple kit reliably?
Yes, with proper calibration and supporting hardware. This build required upgraded fuel delivery, boost control solenoids, and careful ignition mapping to keep the factory ECU stable under boost across the full load range.
Is this suitable for street use?
This Stage 3 calibration is intended for off-road and closed-circuit competition use only. The fuelling and ignition strategy reflects track-oriented demands rather than daily driving.
What's the power gain over stock?
139 kW at the wheels, moving from 127 kW to 266 kW. Torque increased from 503 Nm to 694 Nm.
