GLA45 AMG — Stage 3 ECU Tune
- 22% power increase to 208kW
- 30% torque increase to 350Nm
- Increased engine response
- Improved power delivery
- Enhanced torque characteristics
- Optimized boost control
This 2016 GLA45 AMG came in for a Stage 3 file after the owner had fitted upgraded injectors, a high-pressure fuel pump, and reworked the boost control hardware including wastegate solenoids. The M133 is a punchy little four-pot to begin with, but this build pushed it to 208 kW at the wheels with 350 Nm of torque—a 38 kW gain over stock—on 98 RON pump fuel.
Calibration focused on dialling in the new fuelling hardware and optimising drive-by-wire response to match the increased delivery. Factory ECU was retained. The torque curve comes on earlier and holds strong through the mid-range, which suits the small chassis well for closed-circuit work. Boost control calibration was critical here to keep the turbo on song without exceeding the limits of the upgraded hardware.
What does Stage 3 mean for the M133 platform?
Stage 3 refers to a full hardware build: upgraded turbo or boost control components, fuel system upgrades (pump and injectors), and supporting mods. This file is calibrated to suit those changes, not a bolt-on tune.
Can the factory ECU handle this level of modification?
Yes. The factory ECU was retained and recalibrated to manage the upgraded injectors, fuel pump, and boost control hardware. No standalone required for this spec.
Is this suitable for street use?
This is a competition-spec build intended for off-road and closed-circuit use only. The power and torque increase, combined with the AWD platform, makes it a serious track tool.
